Love this. Very interested to hear your practical clothes tips also - how is your wardrobe organised? How do you keep moths at bay from beautiful cashmere knits?!

So the next (and God willing, final) part of doing up my flat is having a wardrobe built, so I am giving a lot of thought to that very question! Main principle is - having as many things visible/accessible as possible, even if that means culling some stuff. I actually regularly cull because I find an overstuffed wardrobe makes it harder to decide what to wear.. but I’ll give a fuller answer in a future newsletter once the wardrobes are done as it’s a really good question. And re: moths.. probably jinxing myself now but I have so far in my life never had a real moth problem. One or two jumpers over the years but nothing chronic 🤞🏾

Thank you for this! I love your style, it's legit timeless - I am in the process of starting again capsule wardrobe wise.

Keep up the good work 💗

Thank you! And good luck with the capsule thing (although my one bit of advice on that is ignore all the cliché fashion magazine advice about the ‘classic white shirt’ and ‘navy blazer’ you apparently HAVE to have in your wardrobe. If that’s your style, great, but your capsule can be any mix of items that a) work well both together and individually and b) actually represent your style. That could be denim dungarees and different tops/turtlenecks/blouses if that’s your thing :)

Thank you for these tips!

That fashion mag advice is so cliché, boyfriend classic white shirt does not work on me whatsoever - and that's ok!

Coincidentally, I do love my denim dungarees, and they are ever the staple!

Thank you again 💗

I used that as an example because I have my eye on a pair of dungarees myself.. soon come 😅

This is fabulous. Current budget allows for one paid Substack subscription only… this is it! I just really love clothes also.

This was a super fun read! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect kilt / pleated skirt and loved the examples you showed. I’m still dreaming about this Victoria Beckham plaid skirt that I never bought from the Outnet. Major regret! Loved the interiors interlude too!

Funny enough one of the items I'm including in next month's newsletter is a midi length plaid kilted/kilt skirt (actually doing a section on a few of them). Stay tuned..!

Looking forward to it!

Have spent all afternoon furiously sketching polos as part of my “selfish winter knitting” plans, thank you for a new obsession 🙏🏾

Expand full comment

Wait .. do you think you could knit a polo (and if so could you do me one please 😅)?? Send photos/links to the patterns you're looking at, I wanna see something 👀

If I get (and learn to use) a knitting machine you’re MAYBE in for a chance but this will be a hand knit project so will take me literally months!

The only patterns I found so far are all a bit peak and like... postal catalogue 00s, so I’m gonna draft my own - will send my inspo so far in the (likely futile) hopes you suddenly fancy learning to knit 🙏🏾🥲

I don’t think I see learning to knit in my future 💔

this was SO fun to read, thank you! feeling somewhat fashion-uninspired lately and this perked me up

Ah I’m so pleased you liked it! Very much a stream of consciousness but I guess the beauty of Substack (which I’ve actively resisted until now) is being able to write more loosely and heavy editing.
